وخلال النصف الأخير من الألف الثانية قبل الميلاد أصبح  مصطلح "أرزاوا"  يغطى وحدتين جيوسياسيتين مميزتين: "أرزاوا الأصلية" أو "أرزاوا الصغرى" و"أرزاوا الكبرى", كانت أرزاوا الكبرى اتحادًا سياسيًا يغطي العديد من الممالك الغربية، ولهذا السبب، تم تسمية بعض هذه الدول "أراضي أرزاوا". شملت أراضي أرزاوا: ميرا، وأرض نهر سيحا، وحابالا، وكواليا، وأباويا، وويلوشا, في المصادر الحيثية، كانت عاصمة أرزاوا هي أباشا، وهي مدينة تقع إما مباشرة على البحر أو على الأقل بالقرب من الساحل, وقد استطاعت في فترة ضعف الحيثيين ان تمد حدودها على حساب الأراضي التابعة لهم وتدخل في صراع استمر حتى سقوطها وضمها إلى المملكة الحيثية بنهاية القرن الثالث عشر قبل الميلاد. تهدف الدراسة إلى إلقاء الضوء على ممالك غرب الأناضول وعلاقاتها بالإمبراطورية الحيثية, وذلك من خلال ما ورد في المصادر الحيثية التي وثقت تلك العلاقات, ومن أهم تلك الممالك مملكة أرزاوا ar-za-wa التى كانت تقع جنوب غرب المملكة الحيثية, وقد شكلت منطقةً وكيانًا سياسيًا في غرب الأناضول خلال أواخر العصر البرونزي, ومن خلال الكتابات الحيثية فان المصطلح يُستخدم للإشارة إلى اتحاد مكون من ثلاثة ممالك رئيسة وهى : "ميرا" MIR  وبلاد نهر "سيح" siHa , ومنطقة "حابالا" Habala,  وعاصمتها "أباشا",  وقد تميزت" أرزاوا" عن وضع ممالك الإمبراطورية الحيثية بأن أخذت مسمى " كيوروانا" Kuirwana بمعنى محمية أو دولة مستقلة بحيث يكون لحاكمها قدر كبير من الحرية السياسية بشرط دفع مقابل ذلك إتاوة سنوية.
The study aims to shed light on the kingdoms of western Anatolia and their relations with the Hittite Empire, through what was mentioned in the Hittite sources that documented those relations, was a region and political entity in Western Anatolia during the Late Bronze Age. In Hittite texts, the term is used to refer both to a particular kingdom and to a loose confederation of states. The chief Arzawan state, whose capital was at Apasa, is often referred to as Arzawa Minor or Arzawa Proper, while the other Arzawa lands included Mira, Hapalla, Wilusa, and the Seha River Land. Arzawa was distinguished from the kingdoms of the Hittite Empire by taking the name “Kuirwana,” meaning a protectorate or independent state, whereby its ruler had a great deal of political freedom, provided that he paid an annual tribute in return.During the latter half of the second millennium BCE, The term ‘Arzawa’ covers two distinctive geopolitical units: “Arzawa proper” or “Arzawa minor” and “Greater Arzawa” Greater Arzawa was a political federation covering several western kingdoms and, for this reason, some of these states were designated the “Arzawa Lands”. Arzawa Lands included: Mira, the Seha River-Land, Hapalla, Kuwaliya, Appawiya, and Wiluša, In the Hittite sources, the capital of Arzawa was Apaša, a city located either directly on the sea or at least near the coast,  During the period of Hittite weakness, it was able to extend its borders at the expense of their lands and enter into a conflict that continued until its fall and its annexation to the Hittite Kingdom at the end of the thirteenth century BC.
